Chester A. Amedia, Jr. MD, FACP FASDIN has been involved in the care of renal patients and the operation of dialysis centers for much of his career.   He founded Physicians Dialysis Clinics in 1987 and grew the company into an integrated care organization, Renal Disease Management. After attracting venture capital investors, RDM expanded and managed an eight-physician nephrology practice, operated six dialysis centers serving over six hundred patients, and developed a kidney disease specific disease management product which held at-risk contracts with Medicare managed care payers.  RDM successfully sold its dialysis facilities to publicly traded Renal Care Group in 2000, but continued to operate the disease management business, organizing several regional and state Nephrology IPAs. RDM developed a unique telephonic care management approach that was ultimately sold to Fresenius Medical Care and successfully incorporated into its disease management companies Optimal Renal Care and Renaissance Health Care. Dr Amedia served as Chief Medical Director of the combined entities for several years.

In parallel, Chet created Independent Dialysis Group in 2001 to provide capital and operational support to nephrology practices developing their own dialysis programs.
